Petrified Wood is a member of the Quartz family, a silicon dioxide mineral. Petrified Wood is formed when wood, after death, is quickly covered with fine grain sedimentary rock. The organic wood substance is replaced by silicon dioxide. It is a stone of roots, beginnings and ancient knowledge. It encourages slow, steady growth towards spiritual transformation. Petrified Wood instills strength of character and helps one live by one’s ideals. It gives a sense of peace during times of change.
